SCR GM Reviews Safety of Train Operations

Hyderabad: SCR General Manager Arun Kumar Jain conducted a detailed review meeting on safety of train operations on Monday at Rail Nilayam, here.

Neeraj Agrawal, Additional General Manager, SCR, also participated in the meeting along with all the Principal Heads of Departments. Divisional Railway Manager’s (DRMs) of all six Divisions i.e. Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur and Nanded joined the review meeting through video conference.

The General Manager reviewed the status of safety drives being conducted over the zone for smooth running of trains and safety of passengers and workmen. He emphasized that during the course of the safety drives the officers, supervisors as well as the construction staff should be sensitized on all aspects of safety. He emphasized the field officials to ensure worksite safety requirements without compromise. He advised the officials to conduct surprise checks on track maintenance and counsel the staff about the safety procedures. The General Manager instructed to ensure compliance of all safety guidelines such as proper lighting, sign boards and go on at construction sites across the zone. He also advised the running staff to strictly follow the guidelines on mandatory rest hours.

Arun Kumar Jain discussed on the safety precautions to be followed at all the crossings and points on tracks over the zone and instructed the officials to conduct safety drives by involving all the safety related staff. He instructed to take precautions while shunting to avoid minor incidents at yards. Officials briefed on availability of safety items such as smoke detectors in AC coaches, fire extinguishers and train approach warning equipment to track maintainers and S&T equipment.
