SCR Celebrates 134th Birth Anniversary of Ambedkar

Hyderabad: South Central Railway (SCR) celebrated the 134th Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna, Baba Saheb Dr BR Ambedkar on Tuesday at SCR Headquarters, Rail Nilayam Auditorium, here.

Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, was the Chief Guest, Neeraj Agrawal, Additional General Manager and Siddarth Kati, Principal Chief Personnel Officer, South Central Railway were the Guest of Honour. Principal Heads of Departments, other senior officials and staff members, senior leaders from SC& ST, OBC associations and recognised trade unions also participated in the program and paid floral tributes to Dr. BR Ambedkar.

Addressing the gathering, Arun Kumar Jain stated that the legacy of Dr BR Ambedkar is to encourage and inspire generations of Indians to realize their full potential through education and social reform. He stated that irrespective of caste, creed and religion all Indians are the beneficiaries of the great legacy of Dr Ambedkar. Setting aside his personal family and health, Dr Ambedkar worked relentlessly towards the upliftment of the deprived and equality of all Indians until his last breath, he said. The General Manager also stated that Dr Ambedkar was not just an educationist but also an economist, Politian, social reformer and a champion of women and labour rights.

He stated that Dr BR Ambedkar has provided us with the long lasting constitutional framework which enables and empowers each and every citizen irrespective of their socio-economic status. He said that today we should reaffirm our commitment and imbibe the true spirit of Dr BR Ambedkar. He called upon each one to teach young children the ideals of Dr Ambedkar particularly treating fellow Indian with equality. He said that we should treat everyone with equality and respect, not just at our workplaces but also in our homes. Let us respect the great soul and live up to his ideals, he added.

The General Manager presented the awards to the winners in essay writing competition which was organised on this occasion by Personnel Department, South Central Railway on “Social Justice in India”. Earlier, representatives of SCR SC& ST; OBC and Trade Union leaders have spoken about the achievements, contributions and legacy of Dr BR Ambedkar.
