Hyderabad: The Sammakka-Saralammala Mini Medaram Jatara, lasting four days, commenced on Wednesday in Tadvai mandal of Mulugu district.

In general, the Adivasi community organises the Sammakka-Saralammala Medaram Maha Jatara every two years, with a smaller mini jatara occurring mid-year.

The festivities began on the first day with the Mandamelige festival. Temple priests performed rituals to cleanse the Gaddhe and safeguard the village from malevolent spirits, conducting special pujas illuminated by the full moon.

The State government has allocated Rs5.30 crore for the event's arrangements, while security measures have been strengthened with the deployment of 1,000 police officers.

Meanwhile, the authorities have provided facilities such as showers and clothing changing rooms at Jampannavagu, as well as drinking water and refreshment stalls. The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation has organised 200 special buses to assist devotees traveling to the fair.

A large number of devotees from Telugu States as well as Maharashtra, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh are visiting the fair.
