Mahabubabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has asked the Union Government to release the immediate assistance of Rs2,000 crore to Telangana.

At a review meeting held at the Mahabubabad district collector's office on Tuesday, the Chief Minister said even though the State Government had taken all precautionary measures to minimise losses as much as possible, there was damage, particularly to government and private properties due to heavy rains and floods in Telangana.

Revanth Reddy stated that he and his Ministers have been in constant touch with the concerned District Collectors and officials regarding the relief operations and are taking all measures to extend all the help to the rain affected people.

Praising the revenue and police officials for their swift actions, which significantly reduced the loss of lives, the Chief Minister assured that the State Government would rebuild three tribal hamlets that were completely destroyed during the heavy rains in the erstwhile Khammam district.

During the meeting, officials have been instructed to visit the villages and assess the crop damage immediately.

"Initially, it is estimated that crops have been damaged in 30,000 acres across the Telangana State. The government has requested that the Centre declare the floods in Telangana as a national disaster and release ₹2,000 crore immediately to the State," Revanth Reddy said.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister issued a stern warning that the government will take drastic measures to prevent encroachments and the HYDRA will be replicated in districts too.

"No one, regardless of their status, will be spared if they encroach on government properties, lakes and lands. There is a growing demand to extend the Hyderabad model to all the districts. Very soon, a similar system will be put in place in districts as well," Revanth Reddy asserted.
