Hyderabad: Minister for Health Damodar Raja Narasimha on Monday laid the foundation stone for the Boranch lift irrigation project at Boranch, Narayankhed Assembly constituency in Sangareddy district.

This project aims to support local agriculture by channeling water from the Manjeera River to surrounding areas, potentially transforming the dry landscapes of Manuru and Regode mandals into fertile grounds.

During the ceremony, Raja Narasimha highlighted that the proposed lift irrigation project would irrigate approximately 3,400 acres across Manuru and Regode, with field gravity mains systems ensuring water reaches various regions.

The project will be developed with an investment of Rs.430.50 lakh, which will include two field gravity mains installations—one costing Rs259 lakh for Regode mandal to irrigate 500 acres, and another in Manuru mandal, covering 2,900 acres.

The Minister emphasised the economic upliftment this project promises for farmers and local residents. “With adequate water for cultivation, local farmers will have the potential for abundant harvests,” he said.

The event began with special prayers held at the Boranch Nalla Pochamma Temple, where local religious leaders welcomed the officials. Following the ceremony, the Minister inspected the nearby pump house, initiating the motor switch to kick-start operations for the irrigation project.

The Boranch Lift Irrigation project is expected to significantly enhance the region's agricultural capacity, particularly benefitting communities with limited water resources. By addressing water shortages, the project brings new hope to farmers facing unpredictable rainfall, ensuring consistent water supply and encouraging higher crop yields.

Residents and farmers attending the event expressed optimism, seeing this project as a critical step toward improved livelihoods and agricultural prosperity. The local farmers shared their hope for increased crop output, viewing the irrigation project as a lifeline for their fields.

Zaheerabad MP Suresh Shetkar, Narayankhed MLA Sanjeeva Reddy and other elected representatives were also present.
