Ponguleti Promises Swift Action on Housing, Land Issues

Hyderabad: Minister for Revenue and Housing Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has emphasised the government’s commitment to addressing housing, land, and welfare issues promptly.

In an interactive session with Congress party workers and the people at Gandhi Bhavan here on Wednesday, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy received applications from a large turnout of citizens presenting their grievances and requests.

Later, speaking to the media, the Minister stated that the majority of applications focused on Indiramma housing, Dharani land records with several individuals expressing frustration over issues related to previous administrations.

Criticising the previous government’s negligence, which led to land and housing issues across the state, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy further stated that, during the Assembly elections, promises were made to approve 4-5 lakh double-bedroom houses in the first phase, and the process was ongoing.

"Beneficiaries are chosen through village meetings without any need for lobbying, and new regulations under the ROR Act are being introduced to resolve land issues systematically," he disclosed.

Responding to the Lagacharla incident, where Vikarabad District Collector Prateek Jain was assaulted, the Minister said the actual perpetrators would soon be brought to light, and reiterated that any attacks on public servants would not be tolerated.

“Those attempting to create disruption under the guise of ‘pink camouflage’ are well-known to the people,” he said, urging peaceful solutions.

Speaking on farm loans, Srinivas Reddy noted that out of the required Rs27,000 crore for loan waivers, Rs18,000 crore had been processed within 27 days, with the remaining Rs13,000 crore set to be completed soon.

He also announced Rs500 bonus for the fine variety of paddy grains and reassured farmers that the government would procure every last grain produced.

Srinivas Reddy also stated that the government’s plans to launch the 2024 ROR Act to address land issues comprehensively, aspiring to set an example for the nation.
