PDSF Demands Govt to Solve Problems of Education Sector
Hyderabad: Progressive Democratic Students Federation’s (PDSF) Avula Nagaraju today demanded that the State government immediately solve the problems of the Education sector and warned that they would hold a protest across the State.
He expressed agony that the students in government schools, junior and degree colleges and universities across the State were facing severe hardships due to lack of basic amenities.
Addressing media persons at NSS, Hyderguda on Sunday, he said teaching and non-teaching staff should be appointed according to the number of students and added that the deputation system in the allocation of teachers should be abolished. He also said the increased mess charges in SC, ST and BC minority welfare hostels should be implemented immediately and quality food, drinking water should be provided and incidents of food poisoning should be prevented. “Pucca buildings should be constructed for welfare hostels and gurukuls.
In hostels, the posts of warden, cooks and watchmen should be filled up. Besides filling up the posts of lecturers in government junior and degree colleges, laboratories should be constructed in those colleges. ITIs and vocational colleges should be strengthened. A notification should be issued immediately to fill up 1977 vacancies of professors in government universities.
Hostels should be constructed according to the number of students in universities. A scholarship of Rs 5,000 per month for PG students and Rs 10,000 per month for PhD students should be sanctioned. Tuition fees hiked in universities should be withdrawn. Pending fee reimbursement and scholarship funds should be released immediately. A fee regulation law should be enacted to curb the exploitation of fees by private educational institutions. Students' union elections should be held in schools, colleges and universities,” he said.
State committee members N Rajasekhar, Harish, Anand, Vishal, Kumar, Hemanth, Saikumar and Lakshmikanth participated in the meeting.
