Palamuru District to be Named after Jayapal Reddy: Speaker Prasad Kumar

Hyderabad: Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar said that Palamuru district should be named after former union minister Jayapal Reddy, who played a key role in the creation of Telangana State.

Prasad Kumar participated in the 83rd birth anniversary celebrations of Jayapal Reddy, officially organised at Spoorthi Sthal on Necklace Road, Hyderabad on Thursday, and paid tributes to him.

Speaking on the occasion, the Speaker said that Jaipal Reddy had brought pride to every position he has held as a legislator, a member of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, as well as a Union Minister.

"He played an important role in Parliament as part of the Telangana process and was successful in explaining the aspirations and sentiments of the people of Telangana to the Centre. Moreover, Jaipal Reddy was an outstanding Parliamentarian. The current generation leaders should follow the path shown by Jayapal Reddy in politics," Prasad Kumar said.

Similarly, former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu paid rich tributes to Jayapal Reddy. Later, he said that former Union Minister S Jayapal Reddy was a great statesman, an excellent parliamentarian, a great politician with good manners and honesty, who stood first in Indian politics.

Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy said the people will never forget the important role played by Jayapal Reddy in the formation of Telangana State and that he was a great parliamentarian who brought glory to the positions he held.

Among those who paid tributes on the occasion of his birth anniversary were Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's wife Geetha Reddy, family members, government advisors Kesava Rao, Vem Narender Reddy, State Finance Corporation Chairman Siricilla Rajaiah, Planning Board Vice Chairman Chinna Reddy, MLCs Jeevan Reddy and Kodanda Ram, MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy and Etela Rajender, MLAs Gaddam Vivek, Sudarshan Reddy, Nalamada Uttam Padmavati Reddy, Yashaswini, Jaiveer Reddy, Kunanneni Sambasiva Rao and Samuel, former minister Kunduru Jana Reddy, former MPs Undavalli Arun Kumar and KVP Ramachandraiah, DGP Dr. Jitender, Hyderabad District Collector Anudeep Durisetty and Metro MD NVS Reddy.
