Officials Told to Formulate Action Plan to Ensure Sufficient Supply of Sand

Hyderabad: Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari has directed the officials to formulate an action plan to ensure that sand for housing is available in sufficient quantity and supplied to consumers at a fair price.

The Chief Secretary held a teleconference with Collectors of Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Peddapalli, Mancherial and Karimnagar districts from the Secretariat here on Tuesday.

On the occasion, she instructed them to constitute a joint team of revenue and police departments and conduct physical inspection of the reaches and stockyards.

The Chief Secretary stated that the joint inspection should include officer of the rank of RDO and DSP and they should also inspect the entry and exit points of the stockyards and reaches along with the facilities available at these places.

The Collectors were also told to indentify the roads heading to the major sand markets in the State.

She emphasised the need to constitute a joint team for road patrolling and checking with the involvement of police and transport department officials. Likewise, the teams should be constituted for monitoring the reaches/stockyard round the clock to ensure that there is no unauthorised lifting of sand from the reaches and stockyards.

Earlier, the Chief Secretary held a review meeting with officials on Mining (sand) and discussed streamlining the process of sand mining.

DGP Jitender, Intelligence DG B.Shivadhar Reddy, ADGP (Law & Order) Mahesh Bhagwat, Mines Principal Secretary N.Sridhar, Transport Commissioner Surendra Mohan, HYDRAA Commissioner A.V.Ranganath, DMG Shashanka, TGMDC MD Susheel Kumar and other officials attended the meeting.
