NIFT 27th Convocation Ceremony Held at Hitech City
NIFT Convocation held in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) is a premier institution for fashion education, operating under the Union Ministry of Textiles. Established in 1986 by an Act of Parliament, NIFT is a statutory body that has the authority to award its degrees. The institute offers Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral programs in Design, Management, and Technology.
NIFT's mission is to provide skilled professionals to the fashion and lifestyle industries. The NIFT Hyderabad centre, which was inaugurated in 1995, is one of its 19 centres spread across India. The 27th Convocation Ceremony was held at the NIFT Campus, Hitech City, Hyderabad. Graduating batch of 2024 were conferred their degrees. A total of 251 students graduated from NIFT Hyderabad this year, comprising 210 undergraduate students, 40 postgraduate students and 1 PhD scholar.
During the ceremony, several prestigious awards were conferred: Best Academic Performance Award was bestowed to the topper of each of the seven programs offered at NIFT, Hyderabad as mentioned below.
Master in Fashion Management: Vaishaali Saxena; Fashion Design - Boorugu Diksha Lakshmi; Textile Design-Dhruv Dixit; Fashion Communication-Mishthi Monga; Accessory Design-Sheryl Anna Biju; Knitwear Design-Sakshi Punyani; Fashion Technology-Anwesha Kalita. Two meritorious students were felicitated with medals from seven departments. Master in Fashion Management: Noora Mehboob; Garikipati Sai Praneetha; Fashion Design: Haritha Satya Sai Alapati, Aisha Verma. Textile Design: Dhruv Dixit, Gunjika Kaushik. Fashion Communication: Tanmayee Waikar, Ayushi Verma. Accessory Design: Riya Dhuria and Vidhi Siwal. Knitwear Design: Sakshi Punyani and Paridhi Shah. Fashion Technology: Nandini Kapu and Anwesha Kalita.
Besides the academic awards, the NIFT Extraordinary Service Award was awarded to Nandini Kapu and the NIFT Best Student of the Year Award was awarded to Anwesha Kalita during the ceremony.
The chief guest for the ceremony was the Union Minister of Textiles, Shri Giriraj Singh, with Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, Chevella, MP, was guest of honour. The event was hosted by Tanu Kashyap, IAS, Director General of NIFT, and attended by special guest, Colonel Vikrant LakhanPal, Registrar HO. The dignitaries were welcomed by Prof. Dr. Malini Divakala, Director, NIFT, Hyderabad.
Chief guest Union Minister of Textiles Giriraj Singh addressed the students on Slow fashion and sustainability and encouraged students to take risks in life to lead their country and emphasised on attitude, passion and integrity. He highlighted the importance of generating employment opportunities staying in India as a message to the graduating students.
The host for the event Tanu Kashyap, IAS, congratulated the batch and advised the students to stay connected to their families and aim to strike a balance between personal and professional life. The students were then conferred their degrees and merit awards.
Prof Avinash Raipally, Joint Director and Controller of Examination also spoke. Another significant highlight of the day was the inauguration of a new academic block and a girls' hostel building by the Union Minister.
