Hyderabad: Telangana State IT and Industries Minister, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, has asserted that only the Congress Party has continuously championed social justice and dedicated itself to uplifting the living standards of people across the country. He emphasised that, whether in power or in Opposition, Congress alone has consistently spoken for and worked towards the betterment of marginalised and underprivileged communities. Responding to the recent allegations made by BRS leaders against the Congress government and Rahul Gandhi, Minister Sridhar Babu presented the following ten pressing questions in an open letter on Tuesday, challenging the BRS leadership to answer:
1. Why have BRS leaders turned their backs on the families of 1,200 students and youth who sacrificed their lives during the second phase of the Telangana movement? They deserve an answer.
2. On June 14, 2014, in his role as Chief Minister, KCR acknowledged in an Assembly resolution that 1,200 martyrs had sacrificed their lives. However, he later changed his stance multiple times, reducing the official count to 585 in different government orders. Has there ever been a moment of accountability or reflection on what happened to the remaining 615 martyrs during these ten years of BRS’ destructive rule?
3. BRS leaders promised each martyr's family Rs10 lakh in financial aid, housing, farmland, a government job, free education, and healthcare. Yet, while a handful received some support, many promises remain unfulfilled. Why have BRS leaders chosen silence over speaking up for families who lost their loved ones in this struggle?
4. Isn’t it true that leaders who promised to appoint a Dalit as Chief Minister are now silent on that commitment? And isn’t it a fact that the promise to provide three acres of land to Dalit families has been abandoned?
5. Once, you praised Sonia Gandhi as the "Mother of Telangana." Now, you insult her and her family. Do you think people have forgotten? Who first suggested merging your party with Congress, and who went back on that promise? How did Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, who granted Telangana, suddenly become your enemies? Isn’t it your fear of political irrelevance that drives this sudden hostility?
6. Wasn’t it you who boasted that unemployment would be eradicated in the State? Who gave countless hopes to the youth, only to betray them in the end? How many young people, whose dreams of jobs were shattered, were driven to despair—even to the point of suicide? Have you forgotten them?
7. Whose legacy includes justifying the leakage of Group-1 examination papers? Who is accountable for the failure to conduct exams three years after notification? Is it not BRS's incompetence that forced the exams to be canceled due to court orders, while the unemployed youth bore the consequences?
8. BRS promised double-bedroom homes for all homeless citizens, showing them a mirage of comfort. Can you put your hand on your heart and declare how many homes you have actually built and distributed in these ten years? Do you even remember your “KG-to-PG” education promise?
9. Through the Kaleshwaram project, BRS promised irrigation water for 16,40,000 acres across seven districts. But how much of that promise has been fulfilled? I won’t comment on construction flaws in Medigadda or the cost escalation from Rs. 40,000 crore to Rs1.4 lakh crore, as an investigation is ongoing. However, do you think these facts are hidden from the public?
10. Congress leaders are always among the people, with Rahul Gandhi traveling across the country and frequently visiting Telangana. Who truly engages with the people—you or us? If you believe that belittling Rahul Gandhi enhances your credibility, you are mistaken. Rahul Gandhi is a national leader, while your party is fast becoming a regional entity on the decline. Shouting loudly won’t erase your ten years of misgovernance. The entire nation is watching and aware. last question. Where is your leader? Why didn't he come out?
