Hyderabad: After an interval of 42 years, the Maha Kumbha Abhishekam took place at the Sri Kaleshwara Mukteshwara Swamy Temple in Kaleshwaram, located in the Mahadevpur mandal of Bhupalpally district, on Sunday.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of Konda Surekha, Minister for Forest and Endowments, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Minister for IT and Industries, and Ponnam Prabhakar, Transport Minister, all of whom participated in the rituals and conducted special pujas at the temple to commemorate this significant occasion.

The special pujas were conducted under the guidance of Sri Satchidananda Saraswati, the head of the Tapovana Peetha of Sringeri Peeth, and were accompanied by the recitation of mantras by Vedic scholars.

As a large number of devotees gathered, the temple grounds resonated with the chanting of Lord Shiva during the Mahakumbha Abhishekam festivities.

During the event, Minister Konda Surekha remarked that the Kaleshwara Mukteshwara temple, situated at the confluence of the Godavari, Pranahita, and Saraswati rivers, is both ancient and prestigious.

"We are fortunate that Telangana is home to the only temple in the country dedicated to Mukteshwara and Kaleshwara," she affirmed. The Minister further announced that the Saraswati River Pushkaralu will take place from May 15 to 26 in the near future, and it will be celebrated with great grandeur.

Principal Secretary (Endowment) Shailaja Ramaiyer and others senior officials also participated in the programme.
