Venkaiah says Language research results should be taken to field level

Hyderabad: Former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu today said Language research results should be taken to the field level. He said there should be respect for all languages along with admiration and love for the mother tongue.
Naidu, along with the head of the Telugu department of Banaras Hindu University Acharya Budati Venkateswarlu, released the book ‘Sahityamlo Patrala Srujana Sangriya’ at his residence in Hyderabad on Sunday. Remembering the immortal Potti Sriramulu on his birth anniversary, he said preserving the Telugu language was the true tribute to Potti Sriramulu. He said everyone should speak in their mother tongue. He said many great people had served the Telugu language and suggested that universities should undertake research to bring their efforts to light and that research books should be available in a language that the common man can understand. ‘‘If language is lost, it is my firm belief that breathing is lost. In this regard, comprehensive research and opinion polls should be conducted at the university level, he added.
Naidu also said research was not only about uncovering information that is not available, but also about providing it comprehensively to future generations. He suggested that adulteration was not good in any matter. He wanted literature to come out with pure, clear Telugu words. He suggested that Telugu language professors, scholars, and teachers should encourage their students, organise literary gatherings and encourage students to participate in them, and use social media to take them to the masses. He wanted the society to recognize and respect Telugu language scholars. He said once even those who did not study Telugu poems used to sing, and now even those who have studied cannot understand them. He said that the focus should be on what to do to bring about a change in this situation.
Potti Sriramulu Telugu University Vice Chancellor Acharya Veludanda Nityananda Rao, former President Acharya SV Satyanarayana, Director of the Center for Advanced Study of Ancient Telugu Acharya Madabhushi Sampath Kumar, Head of the Telugu Department of Hyderabad Central University Acharya Pillamarri Ramulu, Journalist Rentala Jayadev, Telugu Lecturer Yadagiri and others participated in the program.
