Land Acquisition Process for Old City Metro in full Swing

Hyderabad: The land acquisition process for the rapid laying of the metro rail in the Old City has been accelerated. As per the orders of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the land acquisition work has been intensified on the nearly seven and a half kilometer long MGBS-Chandrayangutta route.
According to officials, the land acquisition of the identified 1,100 affected properties is in full swing. Under the Land Acquisition Act, requisition for 900 properties has already been submitted to the District Collector, and preliminary notifications for 800 properties have been issued by the Collector in phases, said Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited (HAML) MD NVS Reddy.
He said the Collector has completed issuing preliminary declarations to 400 notified properties.
NVS Reddy said the awards for compensation of 200 affected properties will be announced by the end of December month and thereafter, compensation will be paid immediately and demolition work will begin, facilitating the construction of the metro rail line.
He informed that the road widening work is being carried out after holding discussions with the owners of various structures and affected properties on this route and acquiring the properties under the Land Acquisition Act.
NVS Reddy clarified that during road expansion and metro construction, all religious and historical structures are being protected with engineering solutions.
"With the arrival of the Metro Rail, the old city is going to become a very attractive area. Not only will employment opportunities improve, but the entire area will achieve great development in a pollution-free manner," he said.
Right now, HAML MD NVS Reddy and Hyderabad District Collector Anudeep Durishetty are jointly reviewing the land acquisition process continuously and the progress of the work is being explained to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy from time to time.
