Hyderabad: The ISB Institute of Data Science (IIDS) hosted a comprehensive summit on emerging technologies, focusing on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Generative AI, Retail Analytics, Cybersecurity, and Ethical AI. The event, which gathered industry leaders and experts, explored how businesses are utilizing generative AI in retail while addressing the associated risks.

The summit was inaugurated by key figures including Gareth Wynn Owen, British Deputy High Commissioner for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh; Laura Baldwin, South Asia Cyber Lead at the British High Commission; Prof. Madan Pillutla, Dean of ISB; and Prof. Manish Gangwar, Executive Director of IIDS.

Laura Baldwin emphasized the importance of the UK-India partnership in the cyber and technology sectors, highlighting the UK-India Technology Security Initiative launched earlier in July. She noted that both countries are committed to building resilience and promoting a secure, open, and peaceful cyberspace. "This collaboration is vital for global prosperity and security," she said.

Prof. Madan Pillutla discussed ISB's commitment to research-driven education, underscoring the summit’s role in bridging academic research with industry practice, particularly in tackling the potential risks associated with AI and data science technologies.

Prof. Manish Gangwar further outlined ongoing research initiatives at IIDS, focusing on cybersecurity, AI in healthcare, e-commerce, and advanced detection systems for cyber threats like deepfakes and misinformation. He introduced the Regulation, Education, and Detection (RED) framework, designed to address the misuse of Generative AI.

The summit attracted over 30 prominent speakers from leading organizations such as IBM, Amazon AWS, Microsoft, Flipkart, Infosys, Ernst & Young, PwC, Aditya Birla, and the Cyber Peace Foundation. Panel discussions and sessions featured experts from both academia and industry, providing valuable insights into the latest developments in AI and cybersecurity.
