Hyderabad: India could make a mark at global level thanks to the futuristic decisions of India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nahru, said Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka.
The Deputy Chief Minister participated in Chacha Nehru’s birth anniversary celebrations at Gandhi Bhavan here on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said some pseudo intellectuals here and there, who did not know about Nehru and his immense contributions, were indulging in false propaganda.
"If one cared to know about India’s history and independence movement, then they would know about the role of Pandit Nehru," he said.
"Born into a rich and prominent family, Nehru spent more than a decade in jail for the sake of his motherland. It was great fortune of people of the country that Nehru became the first Prime Minister of India.
The development of India was due to setting up of various science and technology centres in the country on a large scale. If India was competing with the developed world in communication systems by sending satellites and spacecrafts to Moon and Mars, it was entirely due to Nehru’s foresight and decisions," he pointed out.
Stating that India is surviving because of Nehru’s decisions to keep education, agriculture and industry in the public sector, the Deputy Chief Minister said if the leaders like Modi with no scientific temperment and belief in superstitions had become country’s first Prime Minister, India would have been lagging behind and the fruits of foundation laid by Nehru were being enjoyed by all today.
Speaking about disruptive programmes and actions by BRS leaders, including KT Rama Rao, Bhatti said if he wanted, he could say many things about KTR.
"KTR should first explain where the government failed. Is giving jobs to unemployed, setting up integrated schools, doing good to people government’s failure," Bhatti wondered.
"Whenever they lost power, BRS leaders resorted to provoking and instigating innocent people for their selfish vested interests," he said.
Bhatti termed opposing government’s decision to expand pharmaceutical clusters as foolish; the Deputy Chief Minister said the Congress government is against vindictive politics.
Bhatti made it clear that integrated household survey was taken up to increase welfare schemes and the Caste census would help a lot in the progress of the State.
