Hyderabad-Bangalore should be declared as Defence Industrial Corridor: CM Revanth

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has requested that the Union government designate the Hyderabad-Bangalore corridor as a Defence Industrial Corridor, highlighting the significant investments it would attract.

At the Vigyan Vaibhav-2025 event in Gachibowli on Friday, which was also attended by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the Chief Minister emphasised that Hyderabad and Bangalore play crucial roles in the nation’s defence industry. He noted that with the right initiatives, startups like Sky Route could thrive, particularly in areas such as rocket manufacturing.

"The support and cooperation of the Union government are essential for the proposed initiatives. If the Centre backs this proposal, Telangana will work diligently to position India as a leader in the defence sector," Revanth Reddy stated.

He also underscored that the youth bear the responsibility of protecting the country.

Stating that Telangana State and the city of Hyderabad have been playing a pivotal role in the defence sector for several decades, he said that noted defence establishments like BDL, DRDO, Midani, HAL are manufacturing rockets and missiles from Hyderabad for the country.

"Defence manufacturing units have been established in and around Hyderabad. The city of Hyderabad has been playing an important active role in the defence sector in the country. We are trying to provide efficient engineers required for the country's defence sector apart from sending IT professionals from Telangana to America. Generating more engineers for the defence sector is more important," Revanth Reddy added.
