Govt Stands firm Against Attacks on Officials: Ponguleti
Hyderabad: Minister for Revenue and Housing Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has reiterated the government's commitment to protecting the rights and safety of both farmers and officials, following the recent attack on the District Collector and officials.
He assured that the government remains fully prepared to listen to farmers’ issues and find solutions, dismissing any intention to harm their interests.
Condemning the attempts to harm officials under the guise of supporting farmers, the Minister emphasised that such actions are unacceptable.
“If violence against officials is tolerated today, tomorrow it could be political leaders or even the public," he said in a release here on Thursday.
Declaring that the State government takes the Lagacharla incident seriously and will not hesitate to take strict action, the Minister criticised those, who disguised as farmers, for disrupting the law and order.
Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy urged farmers to recognise these disruptive elements attempting to distance them from government officials.
He emphasised that an attack on officials is, in essence, an attack on the people itself.
Reflecting on past actions by the BRS government, the Minister questioned their integrity, recalling instances when Chilli farmers in Khammam were imprisoned and Mallanna Sagar farmers labeled as traitors.
He reminded the people of incidents where Dalits were subjected to similar treatment in Siricilla Assembly constituency, which represents BRS working president KT Rama Rao.
