GITAM Signs MoU With Phytec Embedded Systems

Hyderabad: GITAM Deemed to be University, Hyderabad, has officially entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Phytec Embedded Systems, Bengaluru, marking a significant milestone in fostering academic collaboration, research, and technological innovation. The agreement was signed on March 11, 2025, by key representatives from both institutions, including Prof. D.S. Rao, Pro Vice-Chancellor of GITAM; Prof VR Sastry, Director of the School of Technology; Arun Kumar Singh, Director-Sales of Phytec; and Murugan Ranganathan, Chief of Marketing of Phytec. The occasion also saw the inauguration of a two-day student workshop focusing on ‘Embedded Systems and Industry 4.0’.

In his address, Arun Kumar Singh emphasised the importance of bridging the gap between academia and industry, noting, the young minds coming forward will make the future of India bright. Through this partnership, we are joining hands to enhance the clarity of education and the practical application of technology. Our goal is to nurture budding engineers and support them in their entrepreneurial endeavors." Singh also highlighted Phytec’s commitment to student development, stating, ‘This is not just an MoU; we will nurture students like parents, guiding them towards innovation and excellence’.

Prof VR Sastry expressed optimism about the collaboration, stating, ‘We are committed to ensuring that this MoU is more than just a formal agreement. We aim to implement it at all levels—students, faculty, and research scholars. This partnership will transform the research culture not only within the EECE department, but also across all disciplines at GITAM’. He also noted that

Phytec is prepared to offer BTech projects and support M Tech students with dissertation work in Bengaluru.

Prof DS Rao shared his vision for the partnership, asserting that it would be a “live and working MoU” that enhances students & skills and bridges theoretical knowledge with practical application. He encouraged students to embrace lifelong learning and stay updated with industry advancements.

Earlier, Prof T Madhavi, Head of the Department of EECE opened the event with a welcome address, outlining how the MoU will benefit students. “Phytec will establish a center of excellence at GITAM, providing training programs, internship opportunities, and resources for research in embedded systems,” she explained.

Prof P Trinatha Rao also spoke highlighting Phytec’s investment in rugged boards for TEP labs, which will significantly benefit third-year and final-year students in their internships and projects. This partnership aims to enhance the educational experience at GITAM Deemed to be University and equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in the rapidly evolving technological landscape.
