German Delegation Visits Telangana Assembly to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

Hyderabad: As part of the Germany-India Parliamentary friendship initiative, a delegation from Rhineland State of Germany country visited the Telangana Legislative Assembly on Thursday.

The delegation, led by Hendrik Hering, Speaker of the Rhineland Parliament, comprised eight members.

The visitors were warmly received by Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy, Deputy Chairman Banda Prakash Mudiraj and Legislature Secretary Dr V Narasimha Charyulu.

During a meeting in the Speaker’s chamber, the Telangana and German delegations engaged in discussions focused on fostering cooperation across various sectors.

Prasad Kumar, in his address, highlighted the rich cultural heritage and traditions of Telangana. He explained that Telangana, formed as a new State in 2014, operates with a bicameral legislature, comprising a Legislative Assembly with 119 members and a Legislative Council with 40 members.

He further added that the Assembly members are directly elected by the people, and the legislative discussions in the Assembly are meaningful and productive.

Legislative Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy spoke about the prominence of agriculture in Telangana, with the majority of the population reliant on the sector. He mentioned the renovation of the old Assembly building, constructed during the Nizam era, with a budget of Rs49 crore. He stated that the Legislative Council will soon be relocated to the modernised building.

The Telangana lawmakers emphasised the investment potential in the state, assuring the German delegation of government support and collaboration for foreign investments.
