SCR Gen Manager on Train Operations and Safety
Hyderabad: South Central Railway General Manager Arun Kumar Jain advised the staff and officials to strictly follow the safety procedures to ensure safety in train operations. A review meeting was held to discuss on the safety of train operations across the zone today at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad.
SCR Additional General Manager Neeraj Agrawal participated in the meeting along with all the Principal Heads of Departments. Divisional Railway Manager (DRMs) of all six Divisions i.e. Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur and Nanded joined the review meeting through video conference. The General Manager instructed the officials to conduct safety drives and frequent field inspections and counsel the safety related staff including the loco pilots, assistant loco pilots and guards to strictly adhere to safety procedures to ensure the safe running of the trains. He reviewed the availability of fire prevention safety items like smoke detecting devices, Fire extinguishers and so on over the zone. He advised officials to ensure adequate stocks to meet any exigency.
He advised the officials to improve the punctuality by utilizing the optimal track capacity. He also instructed the officials to make plans to improve average speed, so that the punctuality of the zone in train operations shall witness significant improvement. He reviewed on the working hours of the running staff and instructed to make advance planning on working hours to handle the staff smoothly and ensure safe working conditions.
Arun Kumar Jain also instructed all the Divisional Railway Managers and senior officials to actively take part in the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign which aims to bring awareness on the importance of ‘Swachh Rail Swachh Bharat’ mission among the public, Rail users and Railway fraternity. He advised the officials about the action plan, several activities are to be undertaken to bring further improvement in the level of cleanliness at Railway stations, trains and to create good and healthy atmosphere in Railway offices. Extensive awareness campaigns should also be carried out to educate people on observing good cleanliness habits, he added.
