Exploring Transgenders as traffic volunteers
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has asked the officials to explore an option of using transgenders as volunteers in making the traffic streamline in Hyderabad.
The Chief Minister held a review meeting with officials of the municipal administration at Secretariat here on Friday. Ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar, GHMC Mayor Gadwala Vijayalakshmi, MLA Jayveer Reddy, Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, GHMC Commissioner Amrapali and other senior officials were present in the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Revanth Reddy advised that steps should be taken to provide employment to the transgenders on the lines of Police Home Guards and ordered the officials to collect the details of those who are interested.
He asked the officials about the progress in the development of roads, footpaths, cleaning and other works under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
The Chief Minister made it clear that the work should be completed within the deadline under any circumstances and the contractors, who got the tenders and neglected the works, should not be ignored.
"A complete report should be prepared within 15 days regarding those contractors who have not done the work. If false reports are given, action should be taken against those authorities," he instructed.
