ECoR Sets New Benchmark in Freight Transportation
Unloads 100 million tonnes of freight in record 160 days

Visakhapatnam: East Coast Railway (ECoR) has achieved a remarkable milestone in freight transportation by unloading over 100 million tonnes of goods in just 160 days during the current financial year.
As of September 7, ECoR successfully unloaded 100.44 million tonnes, registering a 6.5 per cent growth over the same period of last year. This impressive performance exceeds last year’s figure by 6.15 million tonnes, a spokesperson for ECoR said on Thursday.
Among the divisions under the zone, Khurda division handled 60.38 million tonnes, followed by 22.68 million tonnes by Waltair Division and 17.38 million tonnes by Sambalpur division.
ECoR has been instrumental in supporting the logistical needs of key industries and ports within its jurisdiction. The railway serves major ports including Paradeep, Visakhapatnam (Vizag), Gangavaram, Gopalpur and Dhamra and caters to the transportation demands of critical industries such as steel, power and aluminium.
