Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has reaffirmed that, despite facing financial challenges, the State government is dedicated to the implementation of the Rythu Bharosa scheme, and the commitments made to the people will be honored.

On Sunday, the Cabinet Sub-committee, established by the State government to oversee the execution of the Rythu Bandhu scheme, convened a meeting at the Secretariat, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka.

Committee Members, including Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, Industry Minister Sridhar Babu, and Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, participated in the meeting, where discussions lasted for over two hours to finalise the procedures for executing the Rythu Bharosa scheme.

During the meeting, the Cabinet Sub-Committee evaluated the feedback received from farmers and the data gathered by officials throughout their statewide tour.

It appears that the Cabinet sub-committee has not yet reached a conclusion regarding the number of acres for the implementation of Rythu Bharosa.

Reports indicate that a preliminary decision has been made to exclude taxpayers and government employees from eligibility for the Rythu Bharosa program. Moreover, it has been decided to reconvene to discuss Rythu Bharosa further.

Following the sub-committee meeting, Bhatti Vikramarka expressed that, despite persistent efforts over the past year, farmers remain plagued by concerns that unexpected natural disasters may affect their crop yields.

He emphasised that it is the government's duty to safeguard farmers in such dire circumstances. To this end, Bhatti Vikramarka stated that the State government covers the premium costs for farmers under the crop insurance scheme.

Furthermore, he noted that the government will also fund the premiums on behalf of farmers through the Rythu Bima Scheme, thereby ensuring protection not only for crops but also for the farmer's family.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the State government has set a target of taking up oil farm cultivation on one lakh acres in Telangana in 2024-25.

He said the Union government has released Rs80.10 crore under the oil cultivation scheme for the year 2023-24, while including the state share, a total of 133.5 crore has been released.
