Comprehensive Household Survey Begins Across Telangana
House-to-house survey begins
Hyderabad: A comprehensive household survey commenced across Telangana State on Wednesday, with ministers and elected representatives initiating the process in various districts.
As part of the survey, the authorities are conducting door-to-door visits to collect social and economic data. The survey covers a broad range of questions—totaling 75—focusing on assets, debts, income levels, family members, overseas or interstate relocations, and political representations, if any.
Surveyors are recording detailed information about the head of the household and family members, including phone numbers, occupations, and job details. If a family member has moved abroad or to another State, the survey collects specific reasons for relocation, such as higher education, employment, business, marriage, or other needs.
If someone has traveled abroad, the survey documents specific codes for countries such as the UK, USA, Gulf nations, Australia, Canada, and European countries, with a separate code for other nations. This approach aims to gather a detailed understanding of migration patterns and reasons for leaving Telangana.
Minister for IT and Industries Duddilla Sridhar Babu launched a comprehensive caste census survey at Shankarpalli village in Rangareddy district. Speaking on the occasion, he urged the people to cooperate with the household survey and make it a grand success.
Sridhar Babu emphasised that the survey is intended to improve political, educational, and employment opportunities in Telangana.
He clarified that the survey aims to develop welfare schemes, dispelling rumors that it would result in the cancellation of ration or health cards.
"The development plans will be based on the survey’s findings," he disclosed.
The Minister also criticised certain individuals for spreading false information regarding the discontinuation of ration cards and announced that survey stickers will be placed on homes as part of the first phase of this three-day initiative.
Meanwhile, Minister for Transport Ponnam Prabhakar, who launched the household survey at GHMC office here, praised the survey as a significant government initiative, expressing confidence that it would succeed with public cooperation.
He urged residents to voluntarily provide information, noting that the survey questions were designed based on public feedback. The Minister assured that no documents would be collected during the survey and expressed hope that Telangana would serve as a role model for other States.
