Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has announced that he will undertake a padayatra from Wadapally to Hyderabad with lakhs of people in the first week of January.

Addressed a large gathering of the people after undertaking the padayatra few kilometers along the Musi river in Yadadri Bhongir district on Friday, the Chief Minister announced, "Today’s rally is just the trailer. The main event is coming. Starting in January 2025, I’ll lead a Padayatra from Wadapally to Hyderabad. I challenge the opponents to face us, or the people here will decide their fate.”

Expressing concerns over the dire condition of the Musi river and its adverse effects on local communities, the Chief Minister stated that his government is committed to rejuvenate the Musi river.

“Musi, which once provided clean water, is now a channel of waste, spreading toxicity. People living along its banks wonder if the negligence of leaders or some divine curse has brought this suffering upon them. They long for Musi’s revival,” he said.

Continuing, Revanth Reddy emphasised the plight of local residents, noting, “Traditional livelihoods have become impossible here. Fish cannot survive in these waters; the crops grown here are unsafe to consume; and even livestock milk is suspect.”

He lamented how the people, who once thrived on agriculture, are now forced to sell their land due to these conditions.

Coming down heavily on BRS leaders for obstructing the Musi rejuvenation project, he said, “They know only how to exploit and loot, not to serve the people. That’s why they oppose the cleaning of the Musi project,".

In a bold challenge, the Chief Minister directed his remarks toward those obstructing the project: “Those who claim they will block the bulldozers—give us their names. I’ll bring the people of Nalgonda and clear the way myself.”

Highlighting the urgency, he continued, “Prime Minister Modi might improve Gujarat, but why shouldn’t we restore Musi? This is no ordinary day for me; visiting here gives my life purpose. I vow to bring life back to Musi.”
