Bike Rally Marking Prostate Cancer Awareness Month

Hyderabad: Apollo Cancer Centre Hyderabad, in association with The Bikerni Club, successfully organized the “Be the Best You” bike rally on Men’s Cancer Month to create awareness on prostate cancer and encourage men to take preventive steps for better health. The event saw a remarkable turnout of enthusiastic participants and healthcare professionals, all united to promote early detection and treatment options for prostate cancer, which is a leading cancer affecting men globally.
Prostate cancer is the 4th most common cancer worldwide. It is the 2nd most common cancer in men. According to the World Cancer Research Fund International, there were 1.467.854 new cases of prostate cancer in 2022. India is amongst the 10 countries with the highest rates of prostate cancer.
The rally was flagged off by Dr Sanjai Kumar Addla, Senior Consultant – Uro Oncology, ACC from Telangana Tourism Bhavan, Begumpet, with over 200 participants making their way to the final stop at Apollo Medical College, Jubilee Hills. The event was honoured by Chief Guest Vikas Raj, Special Chief Secretary, Transport, Housing, GAD, Govt. of Telangana, who emphasized the need for community-focused initiatives in spreading awareness about prostate cancer and preventive health.
Dr P. Vijay Anand Reddy, Director, ACC, Hyderabad, also addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of early detection and regular screenings in reducing the impact of prostate cancer. On the occasion, chief guest Vikas Raj stated, “Raising awareness about prostate cancer is vital, as early detection can make a life-changing difference. Events like this, will remind larger audience to prioritize health and encourage regular check-ups, especially for conditions like prostate cancer, which often has no symptoms in the early stages. By coming together, we hope to reach more people and encourage men to be proactive in taking care of their health, as right information and early action truly save lives.”
Dr Sanjai Addla, Senior Consultant, Uro-oncology, ACC Hyderabad, said “Early detection through regular PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) testing and screening is key. With advanced diagnostics and robotic-assisted surgeries now available, ACC Hyderabad offers state-of-the-art treatment that has improved outcomes and recovery times significantly. Men need to be aware that regular screenings are quick and can be lifesaving.”
