Hyderabad: 'Vijay Diwas', which translates to 'Victory Day' in Hindi, is celebrated on 16 December every year since 1971 which marks the anniversary of India's historic victory over Pakistan in the year 1971 Indo-Pakistan war that led to the liberation of Bangladesh.
This year again, the Nation celebrates 'Vijay Diwas' on 16 December 2024 to commemorate the 53rd anniversary of India's victory which ended with the signing of the "Instrument of Surrender" by the Eastern Army Commander of Pakistan. As part of the nationwide celebrations, a solemn Wreath Laying Ceremony was organised at Veerula Sainik Smarak near General KV Krishna Rao Parade Ground, Secunderabad to commemorate India's military triumphs and the bravery of its Armed forces as well as pay tribute to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country.

Officers paid tribute to the bravehearts by floral offerings and laying Wreaths at the War Memorial followed by the Chief Guest, Air Vice Marshal PS Wadodkar, Commandant, College of Air Warfare amidst the public spectators, fostering a sense of national pride and patriotism.
This curtain raiser event also kicked-off the upcoming celebrations for the Army Day Parade 2025 by organising Tea with Tri-service personnel, Veterans and school students.
