18 Cyber Fraudsters Arrested by Cyber Crimes Unit
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad City Cyber Crimes unit has successfully conducted a special operation with six teams across various States, including Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan, resulting in the arrest of 18 accused, including three key masterminds. This operation led to the detection of 10 major cases by the Cyber crime Police Station.
The nature of the cases includes six investment frauds, one Digital fraud arrest, one sextortion fraud, one OTP fraud, one Insurance fraud and the total fraud amount is Rs 6,94,09,661/-. The arrested individuals are wanted in a total of 319 cases across India, including 45 cases from Telangana. The cops also seized cash of Rs5,00,000, 26 mobile phones, 16 ATM cards, seven passbooks, 11 cheque books, 10 SIM cards, two Laptops, two high-configuration desktops, one Hard Disk, one Rubber Stamp. Additionally, an amount of Rs1,61,25,876/- has been frozen in the bank accounts of the accused.
Police appeal: The general public is advised to exercise caution when sharing personal information online, particularly on investment platforms, unauthorised trading sites, FedEx courier frauds, and dating platforms. Do not send money to anyone out of fear or without proper verification. Please report any suspicious activity to the police immediately by dialing the 1930 toll-free number.
Under the guidance of DCP Cyber Crimes, Dara Kavitha, the arrests were made by the Cybercrime Police Station teams led by Inspectors Mattam Raju, P Pramod Kumar, M Seetharamulu, K Prasada Rao, S Naresh, and under the supervision of ACPs Siva Maruthi and Chand Basha, Cyber Crimes, including SIs, HCs & PCs played a crucial role in solving these cases across multiple States.
