Zomato, a well-known food tech company, has decided to change its name to Eternal. The company’s board approved this change on February 6. The name Eternal was first used internally after Zomato bought Blinkit, and now the company feels it is the right time to officially adopt it. Deepinder Goyal, the CEO and co-founder, explained that the name Eternal reflects the company’s vision for the future.
Even though the company is now called Eternal, the Zomato app will keep its original name. The change will also affect the company’s stock ticker, which will shift from Zomato to Eternal. The new name will represent four key businesses: Zomato, Blinkit, District, and Hyperpure.
Goyal mentioned that the name Eternal carries a lot of meaning, as it reflects both a promise and a challenge. The company is committed to growing and improving, even through tough times. For example, Zomato saw its profits drop by 57% in the third quarter of FY25, but its revenue grew by 64%, showing positive growth overall.
The company’s shareholders will need to approve the name change, but this marks a big step in Zomato’s transformation into Eternal.
