Nikhil Kamath runs a company called Zerodha. He used to say that renting a house is better than buying one, but now he has decided to buy a house!

In his podcast, "WTF is with Nikhil Kamath," he talked about this change. He spoke with some experts in real estate.

They were Irfan Razack from Prestige Group, Nirupa Shankar from Brigade Group, and Karan Virwani from WeWork India.

They discussed whether it is better to rent or buy a home.

Kamath usually says that renting is flexible, but there is a big problem. You never know when you might have to move.

He had to leave his house even though he wanted to stay longer.

When talking about money and buying a home, Kamath had some worries. He said it is hard to sell a house.

He compared selling a house to selling gold, which is easier. House prices can change a lot. If many people want to sell their homes at the same time, prices can go down.

In the stock market, there are more buyers and sellers. This helps keep prices steady.

Kamath also said that buying a house can be expensive. There are high fees called stamp duty when you buy a house. You don’t have to pay these fees when buying stocks.

The podcast also talked about whether buying a property to rent out is a good idea. Kamath was not sure if you could make money this way. He mentioned inflation, which means prices go up, and high interest rates as problems.

He said that with Airbnb, you can’t be sure if people will rent your property all year.

This makes it hard to earn money. Because of these problems, he thinks you won’t make much money from owning a property. This shows he is worried about making money from owning a home.
