YouTuber of Telangana Faces Legal Issues After Posting a Recipe Video for Peacock Curry
A Telangana-based YouTuber got into trouble after sharing a video with a recipe for "traditional peacock curry" that went viral. A case has been registered against Kodam Pranay Kumar, a native of Tangallapalli in Siricilla district, for encouraging the illegal killing of India's national bird.
Although the video has been removed, animal activists have called for strict action against Kumar, particularly after it was discovered that he had previously shared videos on how to cook wild boar curry.
"A case has been registered under the relevant law, and the strictest action will be taken against him and anyone else engaged in such activities," Akhil Mahajan, SP Rajanna Siricilla district, wrote on X. "He (Kumar) will be sent to remand as well," he said in a separate post. The police are looking for Kumar right now. Owning or capturing peacocks in India is illegal under Indian law, and violators face harsh penalties.
According to reports, in June, two farmers in Telangana's Vikarabad district were arrested for eating peacock meat. The incident came to light after forest officials discovered peacock feathers in an open field and suspected the farmers after they went missing. The bird was believed to have died from electrocution before the accused found it. The farmers were eventually apprehended, and during interrogation, they admitted to eating the peacock meat but claimed that the bird had already died when they had found it.
