Apple is getting ready for its next big hardware launch, expected to happen at the end of this month. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that the company plans to introduce several new products, including Macs powered by the M4 chip and updated iPads, likely around late October. Some of these devices could be available for purchase by November 1.

What to Expect from Apple’s October Event

Apple is set to kick off its Mac and iPad refresh later this month. The highlight of the event is likely to be the launch of new devices powered by the M4 chip, such as the MacBook Pro, Mac mini, iMac, and a refreshed iPad mini.

According to Bloomberg, Apple is expected to introduce new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models by the end of October, featuring various versions of the M4 chip. The new M4 MacBook Pro is likely to come with 16GB of RAM, an upgrade from the 8GB base option of the M3 MacBook Pro. The base model is expected to include a 10-core CPU and GPU, a boost from the M3's 8-core setup. In terms of connectivity, the M4 model may have three Thunderbolt 4 ports, compared to the current two. Additionally, the base M4 MacBook Pro might be available in Space Black, a color previously offered only in higher-end models.

Beyond the 2024 launch

Gurman’s insights reach far beyond the anticipated October event, revealing intriguing details about Apple’s ambitions for 2025. In the early months of the year, fans can expect the launch of new MacBook Air models featuring the M4 chip, available in both 13-inch and 15-inch sizes, promising a seamless blend of portability and power. The iPhone SE 4 is also on the horizon, likely adopting a more stylish design paired with updated internals for better performance. Moreover, there are rumors of refreshed iPad Air models in 11-inch and 13-inch variants, along with new Magic Keyboards and upgraded AirTags that will enhance tracking functionality.
