During a trial run Vande Bharat sleeper clocked a speed of 180 kmph. A video shared by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on X showed that the sleeper version of the superfast express service attained a peak speed of 180 kmph in the trials.
The video shows that a full glass of water is placed beside a mobile phone inside the Vande Bharat sleeper train. Later in the video, the train can be seen attaining a speed of 180kmph.
Notably, the achievements of the train were recorded during three days of trials, which concluded on January 2, when the fully-loaded train reached its maximum speed of 180 kmph. The trial run was conducted during a 30-kilometre journey between Kota and Laban in Rajasthan's Bundi district on Thursday.
As the name suggests, Vande Bharat sleeper is the sleeper variant of Indian Railways’ superfast express service Vande Bharat train. The train will be cleared for passenger operations for 160 kmph speeds.
