Two men have been arrested in Haryana for allegedly killing a 19-year-old pregnant woman and burying her body in a pit. Officials shared the details on Friday.
The police say that three people—Sanju (also known as Saleem), Pankaj, and Ritik—were involved in the crime.
Sanju and Pankaj have been arrested and confessed to the murder, while the police are still looking for Ritik.
The victim was in a relationship with Sanju and wanted him to marry her because she was pregnant.
The case started when the victim's brother reported her missing to the Delhi Police on October 22.
He suspected that a man his sister had recently met might be involved.
After the complaint, the police formed teams to investigate.
They found that the woman's phone was switched off. During questioning, Sanju and Pankaj said they rented a car on October 21 and took the victim with them.
The police think that the victim wanted to marry Sanju, but he kept asking for more time.
On Karwa Chauth, when the victim was fasting, she had a fight with Sanju. They decided to meet afterward. Sanju asked Pankaj and Ritik to get a car for a long drive.
They drove to Rohtak in Haryana, where they allegedly killed the victim and buried her body in a four-foot-deep pit in Madina.
The police found the body in the pit.
They are still searching for the third suspect, Ritik, and some family members say the victim was pregnant.
