Chennai Super Kings pacer Mutsafizur Rahman put out a heartfelt note on social media, thanking former CSK captain MS Dhoni for the support. The left-arm pacer bid adieu to the Indian Premier League (IPL) as national duty beckoned.
Rahman has left the CSK camp after the franchise’s last match against Punjab Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Wednesday. The pacer picked up no wickets and gave away 22 runs in his four overs, that included one maiden over too. The 28-year-old has flown back to Bangladesh to take part in a T20 series against Zimbabwe as a part of Bangladesh’s preparation for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024, scheduled to commence on June 1 in the USA and the West Indies.
Taking to social media, Rahman thanked Dhoni for the valuable tips he received and said he would remember them. “Thanks for everything, Mahi bhai. It was a special feeling to share the same dressing room with a legend like you. Thanks for keeping faith in me every time. Appreciating your valuable tips, I will remember those things. Looking forward to meeting and playing with you again soon,” he posted on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter).
The pacer also proudly posed for a photograph with Dhoni, along with a signed jersey from the former Indian and CSK captain.

Rahman’s departure puts the CSK camp in a spot of bother with their pacers not being at their best, nursing injuries. While Matheesha Pathirana is nursing a niggle, Tushar Deshpande missed CSK’s last game against Punjab Kings with an illness, and Deepak Chahar limped off the field just two balls into his first over.
Lack of adequate bowling resources meant captain Rututaj Gaikwad operated on reserves, with Shivam Dube also rolling his arm over for the first time in the tournament.
While debutant Richard Gleeson was impressive in parts, losing Rahman at this juncture puts CSK’s bowling department in a spot of bother.
