T’gana to set up education commission: CM Revanth

The State govt has started work to rebuild all public school buildings, which are in a dilapidated condition, at the cost of Rs 2,000 cr, says Telangana CM

Hyderabad: Telangana Government will soon constitute a commission for education to ensure continuous addressing of on-ground problems, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced, signaling the Government’s openness to receiving suggestions.

He attended a programme to present awards to meritorious students from the government schools. The event was organised by Vande Mataram Foundation in the city on Monday.

Expressing intention to commit on providing education facilities in every village, Reddy said, “Our Government will not neglect schools in the villages. Spending on education is not expenditure, but an investment. The society will benefit from this investment.”

He further informed that the government has started work to rebuild all government school buildings, which are in a dilapidated condition, at the cost of Rs 2,000 crore. The government has also launched Professor Jayashankar Badi Bata programme to increase the enrollment of students in government schools, he added.

“The previous government had closed down the single teacher schools due to lack of students. This situation prevailed due to lack of focus on developing the infrastructure at schools. Our government has decided on not closing these single teacher schools. The management of government schools has been handed over to the Women’s Groups. The officials have been directed to release funds through green channel,” Reddy said.

Citing a study report, Reddy said that residential schooling has weakened the relation between parents and children. To address this matter, the government is considering to implement semi-residential system in government schools, the CM informed.
