Hyderabad: The Telangana government plans to undertake repairs at Medigadda barrage based on the recommendations made by the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA). A decision on taking up repair works in view of the upcoming monsoon season is expected to be made at the next meeting of the state Cabinet.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is believed to have asked the Irrigation Department to take necessary measures immediately to prevent further damage to the barrage during monsoon. The repair works are expected to help in storing the water in the barrage to meet irrigation requirements.

The issue was to come up for discussion at the Cabinet meeting on Saturday but the meeting could not take place as the Election Commission of India’s nod was not received for it. The state government had sought the poll panel’s nod in view of the Model Code of Conduct for ongoing elections to Lok Sabha.
