Kunal Kamra Eknath Shinde's controversy took a different turn recently!

According to reports, investigators are examining whether Kamra's prank was inadvertent or part of a larger scheme. In fact, the Mumbai police are investigating if the comic received money or any assistance in mocking the Maharashtra Chief Minister, according to reports.

Recently, a team of Mumbai police also visited Kamra's home where his parents stay, with a summon, asking the comic to appear for questioning in connection with the case against him. Since Kamra is believed to have left the state, the summons has been sent to his WhatsApp number too. Kamra faces multiple charges, including defamation and statements conducive to public mischief.

The whole incident started when Kamra, in his recent set, made a joke on Mr. Shinde with a parody of 'Bholi Si Surat,' a popular song from the 1997 blockbuster Dil To Pagal Hai. He used the 'gaddar' (traitor) jibe against the Shiv Sena leader, who led a rebellion against Uddhav Thackeray in 2022, bringing down his government and splitting the party.

Upset with the remarks, many Shiv Sena workers vandalized the venue where Kunal had performed the set. Commenting on the situation, Mr. Shinde commented on the matter, saying he did not approve of the vandalism but referenced party workers' views and remarked, "Every action has a reaction". He has also inquired who gave Kunal Kamra the "supari" to target him.
