Stolen customer data, including medical reports from India’s largest health insurer, Star Health and Allied Insurance, has been found publicly accessible via Telegram chatbots.

A security researcher alerted Reuters, revealing that personal information of millions is reportedly for sale, with samples available through the chatbots.

Star Health, valued at over $4 billion, stated it has reported the data breach to local authorities and claimed there was "no widespread compromise," asserting that sensitive data remains secure. However, Reuters accessed documents containing names, phone numbers, addresses, and medical details.

This incident raises serious concerns about data security, particularly given Telegram’s rapid growth to 900 million active users, despite ongoing scrutiny regarding its role in facilitating illicit activities.

The situation underscores the urgent need for stronger data protection measures in digital platforms.
