Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has lauded Jay Shah's contributions to Indian cricket, a day after Shah was announced as the youngest-ever Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC) at the age of 35. Shah, who has been serving as the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) since October 2019, will officially take over the ICC chairmanship on December 1.

Tendulkar highlighted Shah's commitment to elevating both men's and women's cricket during his tenure at BCCI, describing his leadership as transformative. "His efforts in prioritizing both women's and men's cricket have made BCCI a trailblazer for other cricket boards to follow," Tendulkar expressed in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Praising Shah's passion and dedication, Tendulkar added, "Being enthusiastic and having the drive to do something good for cricket are essential qualities for a cricket administrator. Jay Shah has exemplified these traits wonderfully during his time as BCCI Secretary. I wish him the very best as he steps into his new role as ICC Chairman."

Shah will be the fifth Indian to lead the ICC, following in the footsteps of Jagmohan Dalmiya, Sharad Pawar, N. Srinivasan, and Shashank Manohar. Tendulkar expressed confidence in Shah's ability to uphold and build upon the legacy of his predecessors.

Other prominent figures in Indian cricket also extended their congratulations. Former BCCI President Sourav Ganguly congratulated Shah, stating, "Congratulations to Jay Shah on his new role as ICC chair. Wish him a great journey ahead." Indian cricket stars Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah also shared their well wishes, each expressing their confidence in Shah's leadership and passion for the game.

Jay Shah's tenure at BCCI, marked by his efforts to elevate Indian cricket to new heights, now sets the stage for his role on the global platform as he prepares to guide the future of international cricket.
