The eagerly anticipated IPL Mega Auction is scheduled for November 24-25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Following the close of player registration on Monday, a staggering 1,574 players have put their names forward for the auction, comprising 1,165 Indian and 409 international cricketers. This year's auction features numerous Indian star players who are expected to command high bids.
Among them, former captains Rishabh Pant (Delhi), KL Rahul (Lucknow), and Shreyas Iyer (Kolkata) have set their base price at ₹2 crores after not being retained by their respective franchises. Other notable Indian players entering the auction with a minimum base price of ₹2 crores include Ravichandran Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Shami, Ishan Kishan, Deepak Chahar, Venkatesh Iyer, Avesh Khan, Mukesh Kumar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Prasidh Krishna, T. Natarajan, Devdutt Padikkal, Krunal Pandya, Harshal Patel, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Khaleel Ahmed, and Umesh Yadav. Sarfaraz Khan and Prithvi Shaw have opted for a base price of ₹75 lakh. Australian pacer Mitchell Starc, who went for ₹24.5 crores last season, also returns with a base price of ₹2 crores.
James Anderson Joins the IPL Auction for the First Time
In a surprise move, former England pacer James Anderson has registered for the IPL auction for the first time with a base price of ₹1.25 crores. Known as the highest wicket-taker in Test cricket with 704 wickets, Anderson played his last T20 in 2014. Now, after recently retiring from international cricket, Anderson is eager to make a comeback in T20 cricket. Debuting in 2004, he has taken 41 wickets in 44 T20 matches over his career.
