India skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bowl in the second Test against Bangladesh here on Friday. Due to bad light and heavy rain, only 35 overs were played, with Bangladesh ending the day at 107 for 3.

The toss was delayed by an hour because of a wet outfield. Indian captain Rohit Sharma opted to bowl, marking India's first home Test in which they chose to field since 2015. With overcast conditions, India fielded an unchanged XI.

Jasprit Bumrah started on a good, but failed to take a wicket in his three maidens. Mohammed Siraj also struggled, as Shadman Islam and Zakir Hasan managed to survive, with Zakir notably not scoring after facing 20 balls.

The match shifted when Akash Deep came into the attack in the ninth over. He took Zakir's wicket with his third ball, as Zakir edged to Yashasvi Jaiswal at gully. The TV umpire confirmed the catch.

A few overs later, Akash appealed for lbw against Shadman. Initially rejected, India's review showed the ball hitting the leg stump.

Shanto came in aggressively, scoring some boundaries, while Mominul gradually gained confidence, driving Bumrah through the covers.

Light rain delayed the second session by 15 minutes just before lunch. When play resumed, R Ashwin quickly trapped Shanto lbw for 31, ending a 51-run partnership for the third wicket.

Mominul and Mushfiqur Rahim faced tense moments, with Mushfiqur surviving a close call off Akash. Mominul also edged a boundary off Bumrah before play was halted due to fading light and heavy rain, leading to an early conclusion just before 3 PM.

In contrast to India, Bangladesh included three spinners, bringing in Khaled Ahmed and Taijul Islam to replace Nahid Rana and Taskin Ahmed.
