Rivigo Founder Questions India’s Inflation Math; Observes Stagnation in Blue-Collar Professions

Even after a decade, the paycheck of the Indian truck drivers have remained the same. Deepak Garg, founder of Rivigo, took to LinkedIn to share his views. As per the post, he said that truck drivers in India still earn between ₹25,000-30,000 per month in 2025, the same they did in 2015.
He reiterated that this is a very dangerous economic signal. If an individual factors in a conservative 6% year-on-year inflation rate, the cumulative effect in a span of 10 years would clock to a staggering 79%.
However, Garg dismissed this approach, noting that inflation should also take increasing asset prices into account. Assets also include valuation of real estate and equity markets, which significantly dictates an individual’s purchasing power.
He wrote, “And if it is included, the number would be 10-12%. I do not want to do the math on cumulative 10-12% as it looks uglier than it already is.”
The concern extends beyond truck drivers. He opined that other blue-collar professions, including delivery workers, Uber and Ola drivers, painters, welders, construction workers, factory workers, and agricultural labourers are going through the same problem.
“Looks unsustainable to me,” he concluded.
Though India's Consumer Price Index (CPI) and food inflation declined in February, Garg's post raises questions about whether wage growth is in line with the real cost of living.
