Mumbai, Feb 07: Falling on the expected lines, the Reserve Bank of India cut its repo rate by 25 basis points (BSP) to 6.25 per cent post three-day brainstorming monetary policy committee (MPC) meeting today. The rate cut by RBI has happened for the first time since 2020.

The RBI has redfuced its GDP growth estimate at 6.4 per cent from the earlier existing mark of 6.6 per cent.

In his address here this morning, the RBI Governor, Sanjay Malhotra said that food inflation pressures should see significant softening, barring supply shocks.

Rupee and bond markets would be driven by market forces, he added.
