Ranveer Allahbadia: The Voice of India’s Ambitious Millennials
Born on June 2nd, 1993, in Mumbai, Ranveer comes from a family of doctors, but early on, he knew that following in their footsteps wasn’t for him. Engineering seemed like the next logical option, and he managed to get into an engineering college. By that time, he had already developed a passion for fitness and was quite buff, which surprisingly drew some disdain from his teachers. Around the same period, he was dealing with a breakup and fell into the habit of partying daily.
When the exam results came out, he had to tell his mom he had failed one subject. Although she wasn’t too upset, that moment served as a wake-up call. Realising he needed to turn his life around, he buckled down, worked hard, and eventually improved his grades. Alongside his studies, he completed a few internships that were truly eye-opening. It was during these experiences that he discovered a desire to start something of his own. So, after earning his engineering degree, he decided to launch a fitness app.
Childhood
From a young age, Ranveer Allahbadia was known for his confidence and active participation in various competitions. However, his teenage years brought significant challenges, particularly when he faced bullying that deeply impacted his self-esteem due to being overweight. Like many adolescents, he struggled with insecurities, but over time, he learned to embrace who he was and made peace with those challenges. A key figure in this journey was his mother, who provided unwavering support. Her encouragement led him to take up judo during his school years, which helped ground him and rebuild his confidence. Ranveer even won several competitions along the way. His passion for editing also started during these early years, though he didn’t realise at the time that it would become the foundation of his future career.
Career
The Start of BeerBiceps
Ranveer’s career began to take shape when he was advised to actively promote his content, leading him to create his YouTube channel, BeerBiceps. Initially focused on fitness and cooking, the channel soon expanded to include content on self-development and styling. After about a year or two, Ranveer reconnected with Viraj, a former college junior who later became his co-founder at Monk Entertainment.
Monk Entertainment
Viraj took on the role of managing Ranveer's content, and together, they identified a significant gap between emerging influencers and brands. To address this, they co-founded Monk Entertainment, a talent management company. Starting in the basement of Ranveer's building, the duo worked tirelessly to connect leading brands with top creators. What began as a small team of 3-4 young engineers has since grown into a thriving company with over 200 team members.
The Start of Podcasting
In 2019, Ranveer ventured into podcasting, initially reaching out to fellow YouTubers and Bollywood celebrities. A key milestone was securing Priyanka Chopra as a guest on the show. Since then, the podcast has featured renowned personalities like Ayushmann Khurrana, Siddharth Roy Kapur, and Saif Ali Khan. One of the most notable guests has been Arnold Schwarzenegger.
By February 2023, Ranveer had recorded over 200 podcasts on his English channel and more than 100 on his Hindi channel. The COVID-19 pandemic presented challenges, particularly since podcasting typically requires in-person interactions, but Ranveer adapted by hosting Zoom interviews with guests from diverse fields such as defence, history, spirituality, and entertainment.
Some of the notable guests on his podcast include S Somanath, Jay Shetty, Gaur Gopal Das, Sourav Ganguly, Rohit Shetty, G.D. Bakshi, and Amish Tripathi. In addition to podcasting, Ranveer has launched two other ventures: Big BrainCo. and Level Supermind.
