"PUNJAB Or PANJAB': Diljit Dosanjh Reacts To Spelling Controversy
Diljit Dosanjh X's announcement of his Dil-Luminati Tour India, Chandigarh concert, drew controversy for spelling Punjab as "Panajab." Netizens pointed out that the singer's spelling of Punjab corresponds to the area in Pakistan. Not only that, but netizens noted that Diljit used the tricolour emoticon in all of his other concert posts but not in his 'Punjab' post. Things didn't stop here; X users even threaded their ideas on conspiracy theories that could have surrounded Diljit's tweet.
However, this time is different; the singer has had enough of social media trolling and ranting. Thus, in response to the accusations, he described them all as "conspiracy theories."
In his post on X, he wrote, "If the tricolour is missed once while mentioning Punjab in a tweet, it's called a conspiracy. Even in a tweet about Bangalore, it was missed once. If Punjab is written as Panjab, it's called a conspiracy. Whether you write it as Panjab or Punjab... it will always remain Punjab (he wrote in Punjabi)."
The singer did not stop there; he called out trollers to come up with something new. He even wrote, "Goreya di Language English De Spellings Te Conspiracy Karn Waleya Shaabash Main Tan Future ch ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ch Likheya Karna ਪੰਜਾਬ Tusi Ni Hatna Mainu Pata.. Laggey Raho Kini Vaar, Prove Kariye that We LOVE INDIA KOI NAVI GAL KARO YAAR YAAN TUANU TASK HEE EH MILEYA?"
Meanwhile, Diljit is now in the final leg of his India tour, which will now conclude with a mega concert in Guwahati on December 29, 2024.
