Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his support to the Indian players, including captain Rohit Sharma and star batter Virat Kohli, following India's defeat to Australia in the World Cup final. While in Ahmedabad to witness the match, the Prime Minister visited the dressing room to comfort the team after the heartbreaking loss.

The Indian skipper, visibly emotional, was seen leaving the field after the clash. The dressing room atmosphere reflected the somber mood, prompting PM Modi to visit and offer solace to the players. He was photographed holding the hands of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, and also met with Indian head coach Rahul Dravid.

Accompanied by Home Minister Amit Shah, PM Modi penned a heartfelt message expressing pride in India's World Cup campaign, assuring the team of the country's unwavering support during this challenging moment. In a social media post, he stated, "Dear Team India, Your talent and determination throughout the World Cup were noteworthy. You've played with great spirit and brought immense pride to the nation. We stand with you today and always." PM Modi also congratulated the Australian team for their outstanding performance on the global cricket stage.

Earlier in the day, Indian pacer Mohammed Shami shared a picture with PM Modi, expressing gratitude for the support and encouragement. Despite the unfortunate outcome, Shami conveyed his appreciation to all Indians for backing the team throughout the tournament and thanked PM Modi for boosting their spirits in the dressing room. He affirmed the team's determination to bounce back.
