PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) India has filed a legal case against Nandamuri Balakrishna's fans after they sacrificed a goat outside the Pratap movie theatre in Tirupati. The fans beheaded the animal as part of a superstition to support Balakrishna's new film, Daaku Maharaaj.

According to PETA's official website, the FIR (First Information Report) was filed against five people under various sections of Indian law. These include the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, the Andhra Pradesh Animals and Birds Sacrifices (Prohibition) Act, 1950, and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.

PETA emphasized that Section 4 of the Andhra Pradesh Animals and Birds Sacrifices (Prohibition) Act, 1950, makes it illegal for anyone to participate in or assist in animal sacrifice. Section 5 bans the use of public places of worship for animal sacrifices, and Section 6 explains the penalties for such acts. Section 8 states that all offences under this law are considered serious.

This case highlights the importance of protecting animals from cruelty and following the laws that prevent such practices.
