Indian golfers Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar have qualified to participate in the upcoming Paris Olympics 2024. Along with the duo, Shubhankar Sharma and Gaganjeet Bhullar are on the cusp of making it to the quadrennial Games.

The entry to the Olympics is sent by the Indian Golf Union and the qualification is determined by rankings. The rankings are limited to 60 in both men’s and women’s categories, through the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR).

Aditi Ashokis ranked 46, while Diksha Dagar is ranked 138. The top 15 players in the OWGR are eligible for the Olympics, with a maximum limit of four golfers allowed from a single country.

The Olympic Golf Rankings (OGR) after the top 15 players consists of up to two top eligible players per country, as long as it does not have at least two golfers in the top 15.

The Paris Olympics will be Aditi’s third appearance in the Olympics, the most by any Indian golfer, while Diksha will travel to her second Olympic Games. If qualified, Shubhankar and Gaganjeet will be playing in their first Olympics.

Aditi finished fourth at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, and it is the best-ever showing by an Indian golfer at the Olympics.

The next best ranked golfers in India are Pranavi Urs, who is playing her rookie season on LET, at 403 in the world, and amateur Avani Prashanth at World Rank 531.

Among the Indian male golfers, Shubhankar Sharma is ranked 197 in the world, while Gaganjeet Bhullar is ranked 232. The next best after the duo are Veer Ahlawat at 380 and Karandeep Kochhar at 434.
